Biography: 

Washington State University professor Von Walden will provide climate science expertise to the Regional Approaches to Climate Change in Pacific Northwest Agriculture project. He is currently involved in several initiatives to study regional climate change in the western United States. Walden, a professor in the Laboratory for Atmospheric Research at Washington State University - earned his doctorate in geophysics from the University of Washington in 1995. He will lead the climate modeling component and take a major role in coordination of the computer infrastructure of the regional project funded by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Walden is a leading authority on meteorology, climatology and global climatic change and conducts research in Antarctica and the Arctic. He served as lead scientist of the National Science Foundation's Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NSF EPSCoR) Water Resources in a Changing Climate project from 2008-2011, an $18.2 million project which is studying the effects of climate change on water resources, the environment and the economy of Idaho.
